Jocelyn Chia is a Georgetown Law graduate who went on to become an M&A, Private Equity and Capital Markets attorney at one of the top 10 law firms in the United States. She then became a consultant at Innosight, an Innovation Consulting firm founded by Clayton Christensen, the guru of Disruptive Innovation. She eventually ditched corporate America to tell jokes to strangers.
After countless bouts of battling with self–doubt and second-guessing, while putting her time in at open mics in basements, hookah bars and even a laundromat, she is now a regular at the best comedy clubs in the world, including the legendary Comedy Cellar and Gotham Comedy Club.
She has been featured in Vulture, South China Morning Post, CNN, BBC, New York Times, and the Independent UK. Originally from Singapore, she has also been named one of Singapore’s top comedians by Buro, and is listed as the #1 comedian in Singapore by Best in Singapore as well as Simibest.
She has been on the Howard Stern Channel of Sirius XM, MTV, AXS TV’s Gotham Comedy Live, Fox News Saturday Night, Gutfeld! on Fox News, ABC, TMZ, Vice TV, Discovery+ and Comedy Central.
She is managed by Andy Curtain, the head of Live Nation Comedy, Asia-Pacific.
Jocelyn Chia is a lawyer turned comedian originally from Singapore. She has been in Vulture, Her World, South China Morning Post, and cnbc.com, and was recently named one of Singapore’s top comedians by Buro. She has been a guest comedian on the Howard Stern Channel of Sirius XM, and a guest host on MTV. She made her standup television debut on AXS TV’s Gotham Comedy Live, hosted by William Shatner, and taped her second Live at Gotham in 2019.
She is a winner of the Ladies of Laughter Competition, and a finalist at the New York’s Funniest competition at Carolines. She has received the “Rising Star Award – Comedy” at the Asian American Television and Film Festival, and made her Comedy Central debut in 2018. She has performed in festivals such as the Boston Comedy Festival and the Women in Comedy Festival, and colleges such as NYU and Harvard University.
In the United States she is represented by Buchwald and managed by Roger Paul. In Asia, she is represented by Warner Music Singapore, and is Warner Music’s first ever non music artiste.
